General elections and filling vacant seats 59. (1) A general election shall be held at such time within three months, but not less than 35 days, after every dissolution of the House of Assembly as the Governor shall appoint by proclamation published in the Gazette. (2) Whenever an elected member of the House of Assembly vacates his or her seat for any reason other than a dissolution of the House, an election shall be held to fill the vacancy, on such date as the Governor shall appoint by proclamation published in the Gazette within three months, but not less than 35 © Crown Copyright 2014 Copying/unauthorised distribution strictly prohibited.
